Running through March 23 at the Gibbes Museum of Art in downtown Charleston, this exhibit explores the Romantic art movement and how it unfolded in the South. Featuring 32 artists - including William Dickinson Washington, William Thompson Russell Smith, Gustave Henry Mosler, Thomas Sully, and others - this exhibit showcases 35 paintings highlighting the transition from the neoclassical movement of the Enlightenment to the Romantic era and the reemergence of nature in visual arts.
