It’s time for all things Pumpkin Spiced! Lattes, beer, pies, bread, and even ravioli! Not only is the gourd of the season so very tasty, it packs some serious health benefits for muscle function, and vision. To keep your muscles working efficiently, you need potassium to balance the levels of electrolytes in your system. For many, the go-to natural source has been bananas but a cup of cooked pumpkin contains at least 20% more potassium. Pumpkin also is packed with beta-carotine and Vitamin A which are both vitally important for good vision, especially for vision in dim light. For just one option of a way to enjoy the benefits of the season, I’ve included my mother’s Pumpkin Syrup recipe. You can add it to lattes or do what my family does and enjoy it on ice with bourbon, a dash of bitters, and a quick squeeze of an orange. For your health!
