Wellness Worthwhile - Fun in the Sun!
Every month our Spa Director, Sally Hickerson, gives us a great wellness tip! This month, with summer in full swing, Sally gives some quick rememdies for common summer mishaps!
It’s officially summer! If you plan on spending lots of time outdoors, you might encounter some seasonal hazards. Natural treatments can be a quick remedy if you come into contact with some of the nastier hazards. You might actually find them more effective than over the counter products. Below are some quick fixes you might want to try:
-Poison Ivy- a compress made from Himalayan salt and apple cider vinegar will help clear it up and cucumber slices can help take the itch away
-Insect Stings- after removing the stinger, make a quick compress of water and either baking soda or tobacco. Hold it against the sting until the pain subsides
-Sunburn- aloe, aloe, aloe. The more concentrated the aloe, the more healing the effect. If you can, find pure aloe at a health food store or the plant itself
-Jellyfish Stings- despite popular opinion, the best quick remedy is a continuous flush of vinegar and salt water (never ever fresh water. it increases the stinging effect).
Now that you’re prepared, have a safe and FUN summer! For your health!
