The birth of “Perfectly Imperfect" Resolution Rehab as told by its founders, Agents of Change coaches Elli Boland and Ashley Cebulka:
"We met about seven years ago, a young woman from a little village in Germany (Elli Boland), and a young woman from East Lyme, Connecticut (Ashley Cebulka). Since that moment, we shared one passion: the zest for life and discovering ways we can live authentically and freely. We love helping people create a life they love.
We discovered through awareness, compassion and inspired action that a loving relationship with ourselves is completely possible.
When we met, we were both still in the process of realizing what works, and what doesn’t. We would gently help each other identify triggers that caused downward spirals into negative self-talk and self-destructive actions. We became more aware that in order to truly shift into optimism, health, and contentment, we had to reprogram the way we looked at and thought about things. We decided to change our minds -- we read books, studied with teachers, dove into Yoga and continued every day to get out of our comfort zone to create a new way of living.
We began taking responsibility for all the conditions in our lives; we got real about how our inner critic has affected our health, relationships and career moves. As time went on, our conversations shifted to the solutions. We started to elevate each other, calling each other out on our limiting beliefs and false self-images. We helped each other whenever one of us was in a place of fear. Our inner perfectionist had kept us both from living 100% in alignment with who we really are, so we were determined to find ways to overcome this mentality.
We started visualizations and affirmations; also known as inner magic. Every time our thoughts became negative about our body, our work, eating, control, or exercise... we would envision a stop sign and immediately say a positive affirmation. We suddenly found ourselves desiring the happy feelings we had when focusing on positivity more than the negative self-talk. This took years of implementing, falling down, shaking off the dust and beginning again. We can gratefully say that we are completely recovered and have a truly loving relationship with our body, yes... more importantly ourselves.
Now looking back, it all makes sense. We were laying the groundwork for a program that we now teach to other people to help them detox from that bothersome inner critic...that inner perfectionist we are all too familiar with.
As a result of finding clarity about what we want and rejecting perfectionism, we both drastically improved the quality of our lives. Now, we both feel loved and safe in our marriages, we enjoy our bodies' true function as a vehicle for sharing our purpose, and we've realized what we've always known deep down: we were born to help others do the same.
The idea for “Perfectly Imperfect" Resolution Rehab began on a road trip to visit our dear friend Kathryn Budig in Florida. Since then, we have been on fire, working on a program that includes all the tips and tricks that we have learned and successfully implemented. We are so grateful and excited to share these tools and strategies with anyone who desires to start living the life of their dreams!"
