Historic Downtown Culinary Tour
This 2 1/2 hour tour explores the heart of historic Charleston, focusing on the area around the Old City Market. Each Historic Downtown Culinary Tour visits four different restaurants to sample a variety of Charleston dishes and meet the chefs, managers and owners behind these restaurants that helped establish Charleston as a culinary destination. In between stops, your guide will provide insight into Charleston’s culinary landscape and discuss historical landmarks and events that shaped Charleston’s development. As there is a good deal of food on the tour, we recommend a light lunch beforehand! Tour is offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2 p.m. and meets at the Southend Brewery and Smokehouse, located at 161 East Bay Street. Cost is $55 for individual tickets, $100 for two tickets.
Upper King Street Culinary Tour
This 2 1/2 hour tour offers insight into Charleston’s trendy Upper King Street district (King Street north of Calhoun Street, in the historic district) and surrounding neighborhoods, showcasing many of Charleston’s culinary innovators and up-and-coming chefs! Each Upper King Street Culinary Tour stops at four different restaurants. The Upper King Street area has emerged as an area with tremendous energy, showcasing culinary innovation, experimental design and boutique shopping. The restaurants featured on the Upper King Street Culinary Tour are trailblazers in Charleston’s culinary scene, edgy and innovative, with tremendous passion for their craft. The Upper King Street Culinary Tour is designed to show off some of the best that Charleston has to offer and provide insight into Charleston’s ever changing culinary scene. As there is a good deal of food on the tour, we recommend a light lunch beforehand! Tour is offered Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2 p.m. and meets at HoM Restaurant, located at 563 King Street. Cost is $55 for individual tickets, $100 for 2 tickets.
This 1 1/2 hour tour will introduce you to some of Charleston’s best Mixologists! Each Mixology Tour stops at three watering holes where guests will meet the magicians behind the bars that are mixing Charleston’s most exciting, innovative and delicious drinks. After discussing the art and craft of mixing cocktails, and gaining insight into how Charleston’s mixologists are embracing traditional techniques and are taking ingredients from farm to tumbler, tour participants will have an opportunity to sample a specialty craft cocktail at each of the three stops! While walking between establishments, your guide will provide insight into Charleston’s cocktail culture, both past and present. Mixology Tours are offered on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. On Monday and Saturday, tours meet at the Southend Brewery and Smokehouse, located at 161 East Bay Street. On Thursday and Friday, tours meet on the rooftop patio at Stars Restaurant, located at 495 King Street. Cost is $40 per person.
Chef’s Showcase at the Farmers Market (Saturdays only)
This two-hour tour showcases Charleston’s wonderful Farmers Market, which was ranked as one of the top 10 in the nation by Travel + Leisure magazine. Starting outside the Charleston Visitors Center, at the corner of Meeting and John Streets, this tour proceeds to the Farmers Market where the group will meet some of the local farmers at the market and purchase several ingredients. Those ingredients are sent to one of our partner restaurants while the group proceeds on a walking tour of the surrounding area. At the conclusion of the walking tour, the group will proceed to one of our restaurant partners to see how the chef has incorporated the ingredients into a variety of dishes and to enjoy a true farm-to-table meal! Tour is offered on Saturdays while the Charleston Farmers Market is open, from mid-April through mid-December at 9:30 a.m. and meets at the corner of Meeting and John Streets, just south of the Charleston Visitor’s Center (375 Meeting Street). Cost is $50 per person.
