Resort Activity Spotlight: Charleston’s Dolphin Discovery Sunset Cruise
Capers Island, a three-mile long barrier island located just north of Isle of Palms, SC is home to a fascinating naturally created “boneyard” beach…
What is a boneyard beach? Although it sure looks like it could be large white whale bones, a boneyard beach is actually just large tree skeletons that have been bleached out by the sun. With the ever-changing tides and moving sands along our tidal beaches, coastal trees get washed up and old stumps are left behind. This sandy garden of large white tree remnants is quite beautiful, especially when combined with a picturesque Charleston Island sunset. To make the trip even better, on your way to or from Capers Island, expert naturalists will take you through popular hangouts for the bottlenose dolphin and loggerhead sea turtles to try to catch a glimpse of these native Lowcountry creatures.
This trip is offered Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the times varying based on sunset. Cost is $37 per adult, $27 per child ages 3-12 and complimentary for ages 2 and under. A 24-hour advance reservations is required. Call 843.886.2292 for available times. We hope to see you out on the water!
